A bayonet pipe coupling for exhaust pipes of vehicles is described. The claw segments of the bayonet closure element here comprise shoulder segments of the other pipe. The faces of the claw segments or shoulder segments which face one another are of wedge shaped design so that in the course of the rotational movement the two pipes are clamped to one another. For this purpose, an elastic sealing element is provided. A rising wedge angle of the wedge faces is adjacent to a wedge face which has a decreasing wedge angle. Therefore, the pipe coupling can only be released if the clamping force is increased so that automatic release is excluded.
