Energisation of a fluid-pressure operated booster is controlled solely by operation of a solenoid-operated valve means, suitably first and second solenoid-operated valves (A) and (B), responsive to signals from an electronic controller (15). The construction of the booster is therefore modified in comparison with known boosters by the omission of the conventional mechanical valve adapted to be operated by the pedal for normal operation of the booster.
