<p>PURPOSE:To perform an accurate abnormality detection and prevent breakage of a device or the like from occurring by providing a controlling means for inhibiting the operation of a stapling means when one cycle of operation of an arranging means exceeds a predetermined period of time. CONSTITUTION:When the number of sheets of copies stacked on a bin exceeds a stapleable number of sheets, stapling of the discharged copies is inhibited. That is, the number of copies stacked on the bin is detected by counting (58-2) when the copies are discharged to the first bin (55-1). When it is judged that the counted number of the copies discharged to the first bin has exceeded the stapleable number of sheets (58-3), an oscillating operation is stopped (58-4), an oscillating unit is retracted to a home position (55-5), and arrangement is not conducted for the copies discharged thereafter. Simultaneously, stapling for the copies previously discharged is also inhibited (58-6). It is thereby possible to prevent breakage of the device even upon the occurrence of an abnormality in the device.</p> |
