PURPOSE:To express a handwritten inputted linear picture by means of a small data quantity by expressing the coordinate data of continuous dots from a plotting starting point by means of the relative coordinate data using the starting point as a reference. CONSTITUTION:A tablet input display device 15 incorporates the absolute coordinate data of the dots constituting the linear picture in the absolute coordinate using a prescribed origin as the reference by sticking a tablet 39 consisting of electrodes on the rear surface of a liquid crystal screen, scanning a stylus 40 on the liquid crystal screen, and drawing a scanning locus. The tablet 39 is divided into 640 minute areas in a lateral direction, divided into the 480 minute areas in a longitudinal direction, and by scanning the respective minute areas in a prescribed cycle by an XY coordinate data detecting circuit 42, whether or not the stylus 40 is pushed to the liquid crystal screen is judged.
