An acceleration accumulating conveyor chain includes connecting pins (32) with outer link plates (33) disposed at opposite ends thereof, bushings (31) clearance fitted with the connecting pins, each having a larger diameter article carrying roller (35) and a smaller diameter running roller (37) coaxially positioned, and inner link plates (40) clearance fitted with the bushings (31) at both ends thereof. The pins (32) contact the bushings (31) along the whole length of the bushings, whereby the bearing pressure per unit area is low. The clearance fit between the bushings (31) and the inner link plates (40) provides "play" permitting the running rollers (37) to positively roll along a supporting rail. A rotation preventing mechanism (38) in the form of non-round complementary shapes of the ends of the bushings and apertures of the inner link plates, or axially stepped surfaces can be provided at the engaging structures between the bushings (31) and the inner link plates (40). By preventing rotation of the bushings (31) relative to the inner link plates (40), noise caused by rotation of the bushings (31) is eliminated. <IMAGE>
