PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and variations in optical characteristics attendant on recording by providing a recording layer comprising at least one specified naphtholactam compound. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer comprising at least one naphtholactam compound of formula [I], [II], [III] or [IV] is provided. In the formulas, R1 is a substd. or unsubstd. alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxyl, allyl, aryl or aralkyl; each of R2, R3 and R4-R12 is hydrogen, a halogen or a univalent organic residue; each of R13 and R14 is a substd. or unsubstd. alkyl, substd. or unsubstd. aryl, substd. or unsubstd. styryl or substd. or unsubstd. heterocyclic group; Y is a bivalent hydrocarbon group for forming a substd. or unsubstd. 5- or 6-membered ring; m is 1, 2 or 3; p is 0, 1 or 2; q is 0, 1 or 2; r is 1 or 2; l is 1 or 2; and X<e> is an anion residue. |
