PURPOSE: To apply a uniform color and a smooth outer surface with no visible defect by pleating a non-reinforced cellulose casing into which a liquid-state smoking agent is impregnated, compressing thin casing later while holding it on a dwell. CONSTITUTION: A non-reinforced cellulose casing 16, the diameter of which at the time of expansion is 12.72-38.16mm, uniformly coated with the liquid-state smoking agent by 10-30wt.% is sent through a feeding roller 22 between a pleating roller 26 and a hooking means 28 of a pleating machine 10, pleated so that mutual radial displacement between pleats is less than 15 deg. per length 15f of the unpleated casting while applying a water containing solution for pleating so that the moisture content of the casing 16 is more than 16wt.%, moved between a 1st clamp 32 and a 2nd clamp 36 along a mandrel 12 later and compressed. Next, this pleated casing 34 is loaded on a dwell 40 and held for 4-72 hours, the moisture in the water containing solution for pleating is absorbed, and its dimension is stabilized. |
