PURPOSE:To detect a focal position in a short time with a simple processing by deciding a different binarizing level from a peak value of a picture signal, applying binarizing processing to the picture signal, obtaining each count of each binarized signal and making the position of an image pickup device minimizing the difference between the counts as a focal point. CONSTITUTION:A binarizing level decision circuit 8 detects a peak value of a picture signal from a TV camera 1, decides a level of 80% and 60% with respect to the peak value respectively, the former is sent to a binarizing processing circuit 9 and the latter is sent to a binarizing processing circuit 10 respectively. The binarizing processing circuits 9, 10 apply binarizing processing to a picture signal according to a binarizing level received to them respectively and counters 11, 12 connecting to an output terminal of the binarizing processing circuits 9, 10 count the picture element number reaching a high level in signals subject to binarizing processing and a control circuit 13 detects a point where the difference of the counts is minimized as a focal point of a TV camera 1. Thus, the focal point is detected with a simple processing in a short time. |
