PURPOSE:To save computer resources and test man-hour by automatically generating and translating a source program file for a designated range when the range of the source program to be translated and information concerning the program are designated. CONSTITUTION:A user operates a terminal 2, and inputs processing designating information and a processing request. A processing request deciding means 10 of an editor 1 inputs them, and at the time of the translation processing request, whether or not the translation range is designated is decided. When the range is not designated, a compiler 3 is activated. When the range is designated, the processing designating information is delivered to an intra-range source program generating means 11, and activated. The activated intra-range source program generating means 11 writes a read lines to an intra-range source program file 5 when the line read from a source program file 4 is inside the designated range. When there are no lines to be processed, a designated range translating means 12 is activated. The activated designated range translating means 12 activates the complier 3.
