Annular workpieces such as, in particular, piston rings for internal combustion engines can be electroplated, in a single process step, simultaneously on the flank faces and on the running faces and thus economically, by means of an appliance which has at least three rods arranged parallel to one another, into whose recesses situated above one another a plurality of annular workpieces can be inserted so as to be situated horizontally above one another and with one ring sector each bearing on the inner circumference. The current supply to the workpiece is effected by means of a conductive link from the appliance suspension, via the covering plate covering the rods, and the rods to the contact surfaces of the rings in the recesses. In order to ensure that the contact surfaces, too, are electroplated, the rings are alternately rotated during electroplating, being set into rotary motion by the rods supported rotatably and driven by a rotation device. <IMAGE>
