In order to create a device for clamping workpieces on a clamping table, having a clamping element as well as a distance element which carries the clamping element and can be mounted on the clamping table, which device can be used, for example, in the known machine tables provided with T-slots and is of substantially more cost-effective construction and of simpler design than the known devices, it is proposed that the distance element have a rail bridge which is arranged with supporting elements at a distance from the clamping table, and that the clamping element can be located on the rail bridge in different positions in its longitudinal direction.
