CONTINUOUS SUBSTITUTION CHROMATOGRAPHY METHOD AND APPARATUS

PURPOSE: To separate a large quantity of chromatography species per unit capacity of resin by an arrangement in which the resin touches a feed mixture flow, a substitution reagent flow and a barrier reagent flow entirely and continuously. CONSTITUTION: A feed mixture flow, a substitution reagent flow and a barrier reagent flow are introduced simultaneously to the vicinity of first end of an annular particle bed 14 containing a resin 64. The feed mixture flow contains chromatography species B and C in which the chromatography species C exhibits higher affinity to the resin 64 than the species B. The substitution reagent flow contains a chromatography species D exhibiting higher affinity to the resin 64 than the species C. The barrier reagent flow contains a chromatography species A exhibiting lower affinity to the resin 64 than the species B. The reagents flow with respect to the annular particle bed 14 and the resin 64 touches the feed mixture flow, substitution reagent flow and barrier reagent flow substantially entirely and continuously thus collecting substantially pure chromatography species B and C.
