PURPOSE:To execute tight closure and reinforcement of an intermediate connecting part and a terminal part by covering a connecting part or a terminal part of a metallic coat optical fiber with a metallic sleeve, and brazing a metallic coat layer and the metallic sleeve by using a brazing metal whose melting point is lower than that of both metals. CONSTITUTION:Optical fiber bare wires 2, 2 whose metallic coat layer 3 is removed by an arc discharge welding method, etc. are connected to each other. When this connection is ended, a metallic sleeve 4 covers a welded part, and also moved to a position where it is overlapped with the metallic coat layer 3 of both metallic coat optical fibers 1. Subsequently, a brazing metal 5 is made to flow to a boundary part of the metallic sleeve 4 and the metallic coat layer 3, and the metallic sleeve 4 and the metallic coat optical fibers 1, 1 are joined and fixed. The brazing metal 5 which has a melting point being lower than that of both a metal for forming the metallic coat layer 3 and a metal for forming the metallic sleeve 4 is used. |
