PURPOSE:To prevent misinsertion by arranging a means of transmitting a status corresponding to the detection of drop in the printing density as determined in the printing of an identification code receiving an insertion instruction with such an identification code. CONSTITUTION:The printing density is checked by comparing a read output signal 63 with a reference voltage 65 higher than a comparison reference voltage 64 by means of a comparator 67. When output signal of a comparator 66 is ''1'' within a control section 68, a drop in the printing density is judged if the output signal of the comparator 67 is ''0''. A status of dropped printing density is sent to a CPU3 to demand the replacement of an ink ribbon. At the same time, a print head 22 is moved to the right to print an identification code overlapped thereby improving the S/N ratio. Upon the end of this operation, the execution of the insertion is resumed to the first line printing position. |
