[Problem] To provide a method of avoiding the effects of hemoglobin in the immunoassay of a substance to be assayed within a biological sample. [Solution] To solve this problem, a sample in which a component to be assayed is suspected to be present and antibodies that bind the component to be assayed are reacted in the presence of a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1, which is the sequence from the 419th amino acid to the 607th amino acid in the amino acid sequence of the heat shock protein (HSP) DnaK from Escherichia coli, or in the presence of a polypeptide having a sequence identity of at least 90% therewith.
