PURPOSE:To obtain an image receiving medium for thermal transfer free from thermal deformation such as curl by providing paired base sheets of the same layer structure of layers arranged symmetrically, located at symmetrical positions with the center surface of a base, and setting the physical property of the layer and the central base sheet at a specific value. CONSTITUTION:An image receiving medium 1 is basically made of a dyeing layer 2 and a base 3, and the base 3 consists of a base sheet 3b adjoining the dyeing layer 2 centering around a central base sheet 3b and a base sheet c which is positioned symmetrically with the base sheet 3a and located below the base sheet 3b in the center. The modulus of surface compression elasticity of the surface of the base sheet 3a adjoining the dyeing layer 2 is 14kg/cm<2> or more, and the heat conductivity is 3.5X10<-4>cal/cmXsec.. deg.C or less. In addition, the coefficient of heat contraction of the central base sheet 3b is 0.3% or less. Furthermore, the base sheet itself has a symmetrical layer structure with its central surface. |
