PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance by forming one sleeve metal positioned on one end side of a moving cylinder with an iron group material while from the other sleeve metal positioned on the other end side of the moving cylinder with a copper group material. CONSTITUTION:As the pinion moving body 23 of a starter device 20 is moved, a pinion 8 jumps out forward by means of a moving cylinder 22 and is engaged with and rotates the ring gear of an engine to start the engine. At this time, until immediately before the separation of the pinion 8 from the ring gear after the start of the engine, a high load is applied to the front portion of the moving cylinder 22 via the pinion 8 due to the pulsation of the engine and this load is applied even to a front sleeve metal 24. However, the front sleeve metal 24 which is formed with an iron group material has a large abrasion resistance. On the other hand, a rear sleeve metal 25 which is not subjected to a higher load than the front load is formed with a copper group material having higher abrasion resistance to high speed rotation. |
