PURPOSE:To uniformly heat the whole surface of a recording medium and to stably and quickly execute an erasing operation by providing plural light sources for projecting a light beam to the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A magneto-optical recording medium 1 for erasing the information is disposed in the vicinity of an electromagnet 4 and in parallel to the surface of a magnetic pole 4a. Subsequently, by exciting the electromagnet 4, the perpendicular magnetic field of >=5,000-Oe strength is given to the whole surface of the medium 1, plural light sources 3 provided on the inside surface side of a reflecting mirror 2 are allowed to emit light beams instantaneously at the same time, and by its heat energy, the temperature of the recording surface of the medium 1 is raised uniformly to >=180 deg.C. In such a manner, coercive force of the medium 1 is lowered to <=500-Oe strength and the magnetizing direction of the recording surface is arranged in order in the direction of a magnetic field given from the electromagnet 4. Also, information which is recorded as a magnetized pattern in the medium is simultaneously erased. |
