PURPOSE:To make the whole of an engine compact in a pressure boiling type cooling device by connecting the lower part of a cooling water chamber to a sub-tank through a pressure valve, jointing a radiator directly to the upper end of the cooling water chamber and forming a sub tank on the top of it. CONSTITUTION:A cooling water chamber 6 is formed around the hot portion such as a combustion chamber head wall portion 2a in a cylinder head 2 and a cylinder liner 3, and a radiating portion 8 is provided on the upper end of a cylinder block 1 through a seal 35. The lower end opening of the radiating portion 8 is made to communicate directly with the upper end opening of the cooling water chamber 6, and a cooling fan 10 is arranged in front of the radiating portion 8. A sub-tank 18 is integrally-formed on the top end of the radiating portion 8, and an approximately horizontal compartment 19 is provided between them. Moreover, a pressure valve 20 is provided between the top end of a cooling water passage 15 formed at the side of the radiator 8 and the lower end of the sub tank 18, and a negative valve 21 and a temperature control valve 22 are provided on the compartment 19. |
