FUEL ASSEMBLY AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PURPOSE: To standardize and automate production of fuel assembly comprising a plurality of fuel rods spaced apart from each other while enhancing utilization of fuel by employing a fuel pellet with poison material having standardized length. CONSTITUTION: A specific fuel assembly is produced such that the burnable absorbing material has a specified average length by assembling fuel rods 18A, 18B including a linkage of cladding fuel pellet or a fuel pellet 34B with poison material having minimum different (e.g. two kinds) standardized length and mixing the fuel rods 18A, 18B at a specified ratio. It is produced to have the average length of burnable absorbing material. Other fuel assembly where the average length of burnable absorbing material is different can be produced by mixing the furl rods 18A, 18B including a linkage of fuel pellet 34B with poison material having minimum different standardized length and mixing the fuel rods 18A, 18B at a different ratio.
