PURPOSE:To facilitate simplification and manufacture and to reduce the quantity of waste ink at the time of recovery of ink discharge by providing driving means for driving pressurizing means and a plurality of ink liquid passage blocking means at a predetermined timing. CONSTITUTION:An ink liquid passage is blocked by ink liquid passage blocking means 122, 123, ink is fed under pressure into an ink common liquid chamber 127 in an ink liquid passage by ink pressurizing means 125, the ink is further discharged from a discharge port 128, and ink discharge is recovered. The quantity of discharging ink from the discharge port 128 can be altered by varying a period of time for opening the ink liquid passage blocking means 122, 123. The ink liquid passage blocking means 122 is always opened, the ink liquid passage blocking means 123 is blocked, and the ink pressurizing means 125 is then applied to circulate the ink through the common liquid chamber 127 of the head 103, thereby removing the air stored in the head 103. |
