<p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to recognize positively the excessive abrasion of brake pads by providing protrusions for operating the brake pads to be separated in the axial direction of a brake disc at the end parts, on the brake disc side, of retainers. CONSTITUTION:If the friction linings of brake pads 16, 18 are worn away exceeding its abrasion limit, protrusions 30 provided at the end parts, on the brake disc side 10, of retainers 28 are brought into contact with the back plates 20 of the brake pads 16, 18 and deformed elastically. Accordingly, the brake pads 16, 18 are pushed back into a position further separated from the disc brake 10 than the normal pause position by the elastic restoration of the protrusions 30 at a brake releasing time. As a result, brake pedal stepping-on capacity is enlarged, so that even a careless or insensible driver can easily notice the abnormality of the strokes of the brake pedal, and thus the excessive abrasion of the brake pads 16, 18 can be effectively recognized.</p> |
