Between signal input and output connections are two adding stages, one each side of a 1H delay line. The original input signal and the output signal from the delay line are connected to a subtracting circuit, which has its output connected to an inverting amplifier, with its output connected to the second input of the first adding state, which acts as a synthesing device. The subtracting circuit forms part of a feedback circuit which modifies the input signal, and the second adding stage which is also connected to the output of the subtracting circuit by an amplifier, also forms a synthesing device to maintain a signal with an emphasis at start and end of the video signal.
