The invention relates to a cigar lighter, in particular for motor vehicles, of the type which contains a lighter element (1) in which a removable heating plug (2) is arranged, which heating plug (2) has an element (10) of material which is capable of guiding light and is surrounded by an opaque handle cap (9) and leaves free the front (14) of the aforesaid element (10). According to the invention, the cigar lighter is characterised in that it contains on the one hand a circumferential ring (7) which is capable of guiding light and can be connected to a light source (4), the aforesaid ring (7) normally being covered by the cap (9) of the cigar lighter and being connected to the lighter element (1), and on the other hand contains openings (12) which are arranged opposite the front side (8) of the aforesaid ring (7). The invention is also characterised in that the rear (13) of the element (10) is suitable for receiving the light beams (R) which start from the aforesaid ring (7) and pass through the aforesaid openings (12) and can reflect back the said light beams (R) to the front (14) of the aforesaid element (10), the front (14) being partially provided with an opaque covering (15).
