PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of an electrode substrate generating when an active material is removed by ultrasonic vibration by using spongy nickel having a specified tensile breaking strength and a specified mean pore size as the electrode substrate. CONSTITUTION:An active material is filled in the pores of an electrode substrate comprising spongy nickel and the active material in a specified part in the substrate is removed by ultrasonic vibration, then a current collecting tab is welded there to form an electrode. For this substrate, spongy nickel having a tensile breaking strength of 3kg/cm or more and a mean pore size of 200mum or more is used. By the use of this spongy nickel, when the active material is removed by ultrasonic vibration, the damage of the electrode substrate is prevented and the current collecting tab is surely welded. |
