PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance from the cultured product obtained by the cultivation of microorganisms belonging to Actinoplanes genus and capable of producing the titled substance, and to use the titled substance as an antibacterial agent and an agent for promoting the host resistance. CONSTITUTION:Microorganisms belonging to Actinoplanes genus and capable of producing isohematinic acid of formula, e.g. Actinoplanes sp. SANK61681 strain, are cultured in a medium containing known nutrients for actinomycetes, e.g. glucose, glycerin, soybean oil, corn steep liquor, peptone, meat extract, inorganic salts, etc. at 24-30 deg.C and nearly neutral pH condition. After the cultivation, the microbial cells are separated from the medium by filtration, and the objective isohematinic acid is separated from the filtrate with e.g. adsorbent, etc. The obtained isohematinic acid is used as an antibacterial agent or an agent for promoting the host resistance. |
