Surfactant prepn. useful as foam suppressant and deaerating agent - contains tri:alkyl phosphate, 6-16 carbon iso-alkanol and alkoxylated alcohol or amine as surfactant

Water-thinnable, silicone-free preparation (I) contains (a) phosphoric acid triester(s) of formula (R-O-(R1O)k)3P=O (II), (b) 6-16C iso-alkanol(s) and (c) surfactant(s) of formula R2-O-(alkylene-O)m-H (III) or H-(O-alkylene)n-NR2-(alkylene--O)p-HH (IV) in which the mol. contains 1-10 ethyleneoxy gps. on average. In the formulae, R = 3-6C alkyl; R1 = 2-3C alkylene; R2 = 8-15C alkyl; alkylene = ethylene and opt. propylene; k = 0 or 1; m = 2-15; n = at least 1; p = 0 or a positive no.; n + p = 1-11. Pref., (I) also contains (d) at least one 2-6C alkylene glycol or di- or tri-(2-3C-alkylene)-glycol (or a mono-(1-6C alkyl) ether thereof and/or (e) water; on average (III) has m1 ethyleneoxy gps. and m2 propyleneoxy gps. (with m1 = 2-10; m2 = 1-5) and (IV) has q1 ethyleneoxy gps. and q2 propyleneoxy gps. (with q1 = 1-6; q2 = 0-5); pref. (c) is a surfactant of formula R2-O-(C2H4O)x-(C3H6O)y-(C2H4O)z-H (IIIa) (with R2 = prim. iso-(8-15C)-alkyl; x = 1-4; y = 1-5; z = 1-9); (I) consists mainly of (a), (b) and (c) and opt. (d) and/or (e). USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are useful as foam-inhibiting and de-aerating agents with a wetting action (claimed); also claimed are: (1) a process for foam inhibition or de-aeration in aq. systems which contain or tend to form interfering foam, by using (I), esp. in aq. liqs. for textile treatment, which contain foam-producing wetting agents, pref. in such liqs. for textile pretreatment, partic. at a running speedof above 40 m/min.; for this process, (I) is pref. formulated as a stock soln. or concentrate; (2) aq. stock solns. or concentrates, pref. for textile pretreatment, contg. (a), (b), (c) and opt. (d), in addn. to other treatment-dependent ingredients.
