The present invention relates to a composition against insects, in particular clothes moths and beetles of the genus Anthrenus, which contains 3,7-dimethyl-6-octen-1-ol and/or 2-methoxy-4-allylphenol. The invention furthermore relates to the use of 3,7-dimethyl-6-octen-1-ol or 2-methoxy-4-allylphenol or mixtures of these two compounds, for controlling insects, if appropriate together with customary auxiliaries, carriers or additives.
