Semiconductor component for a switched-mode power supply, controlled by a square-wave voltage, for supplying power to loads which draw high currents, especially electrical welding devices, in which a semiconductor electrode (collector, cathode) is mounted flat, with the interposition of an insulating plate, on a metallic carrier plate, the insulating plate having a contact layer which is connected to the semiconductor electrode. A laminate made of another insulating plate and an electrically connected metal layer is positioned between the insulating plate and the carrier plate so that the metal layer lies between the insulating plates and its outlet is connected to the DC potential on the semiconductor component. In this case, the capacitor formed by the semiconductor electrode and the metal layer short-circuits radio-frequency interference currents occurring on the semiconductor component.
