PURPOSE:To obtain an image recording technique designed for high speed and high image quality with advantages of compactness, low cost and high reliability by allowing as recording electrode consisting of an image electrode array to come in contact with the rear of a toner transport belt and applying a signal voltage corresponding to an image to an area between a recording electrode and an image recording medium to send toner flying from the toner transport belt to the image recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A toner transport belt 1 has a recording electrode 2 in contact with the rear, and is arranged so that it faces an image recording medium 3 with a constant clearance maintained with the latter. A toner 5 is pressed against the toner transport belt 1 by a toner transport roll 6 to form a uniform toner layer. At the same time, the toner is charged by friction between a layer- forming blade and the toner transport belt, and thus a constant amount of electric charge is provided in the toner. The toner on the transport belt is sent flying in a clearance between the toner transport belt and the image recording medium by an electric field applied to an area between the recording electrode 2 and the image recording medium. |
