Pipe union nut locking method - locks nut to pipe using self-tapping screw

The method locks a union nut on a pipe in a hydraulic or other system, the pipe fitting in a passage through the nut. The nut is locked to the pipe, typically by a self-tapping screw (19) engaging with the pipe (2) and accommodated in a tangental drilling (15) in the nut (9). The drilling can be untapped, the screw cutting into it and the pipe wall. Alternatively the drilling can be tapped for the screw. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple and reliable locking of union nut on pipe, while allowing easy detachment when necessary.
