PRODUCTION OF SYNDIOTACTIC AROMATIC VINYL POLYMER

PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer having narrow molecular weight distribution and high stereoregularity by bringing an aromatic vinyl monomer into contact with a Kaminski-Dyn type catalyst having any one of components or both components supported on a carrier such as alumina and polymerizing the monomer. CONSTITUTION:In polymerizing an aromatic vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene) by bringing the monomer into contact with a Kaminski-Dyn type catalyst, any one or both of titanium and/or zirconium component or aluminum component is supported on a carrier comprising alumina or silica to give a catalyst and polymerization is carried out by using the catalyst to give the aimed polymer having <=3.0 degree of dispersion (Mw/Mn) and syndiotactic structure. A carrier having <=500m<2>/g surface area and >=50 A number-average pore diameter is preferable as the carrier to support the catalytic components.
