<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate contamination due to an electrode and to execute refining under less consumption of the electrode by using a shifting type plasma arc and generating plasma beam between a torch and molten metal at the time of executing electrolytic refining while using DC current. CONSTITUTION:Into a ladle 8 arranging the electrode 4 at bottom part, for example molten steel 10 is charged and slag 3 is added and a hood 9 is set. Successively, while impressing voltage from the DC power source 5 between the molten steel 10 and the plasma torch 2, working gas 6 is caused to flow and the plasma arc 1 irradiates. Then, the one after executing rough refining in a converter is used for the molten steel 10, and the one which contains CaO and Al2O3 as essential components is used for refining flux. By this method, as an amode, non-contact and non-consumable type plasma torch 2 can be used and also slag-molten metal interface electric potential can be stabilized at high level under the little power consumption. Therefore, the anode is not consumed and the molten steel is not contaminated and the electrode cost is reduced.</p> |
