PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing the accuracy of products as well at enhacing the working ability, by providing such an method that a plurality of ceramic pieces are temporarily secured together after they are abutted together so that an integral auxiliary combustion chamber block is formed, and then the above- mentioned block is shrinkage-fitted in an insert ring. CONSTITUTION:There are formed first and second ceramic pieces 7, 8, the first ceramic piece 7 having a fuel spraying port 20 to which the jet port of a fuel injection valve 4 is opposed, a glow plug fitting hole 10 in which the heating section of a glow plug 5 is fitted and a substantially semicircular recessed part 25, and the second ceramic piece 8 having a jet port 13 communicated with a main combustion chamber 14 and an inclined-bottom shape recessed part 26. An auxiliary combustion chamber block 9 formed of these pieces 7, 8 which are temporarily secured together after the positioning thereof is shrinkage-fitted in an insert ring 11 made of metals such as, for example, statinless steel, to form an insert block 21 provided therein with a substantially semicircular auxiliary combustion chamber 6. Further, the block 21 is fitted in a receiving hole 17 in a cylinder head 1 with a gap 23 being formed therebetween. |
