PURPOSE:To rearrange a control table while the operation of a computer is continued in the course of the operation of the business processing of the computer by referring to an attribute list, and generating a required vacant area by performing required arrangement alteration according to the designation to show whether a continuous area is necessary or unnecessary for only the control table with designation that its address needs not be preserved. CONSTITUTION:In the case where the rearrangement of a control table group 2 is performed according to the control table update information 3 of prescribed designation information, the rearrangement control mechanism 1 of the processing means of the rearrangement performs the rearrangement by referring to the attribute list 4, and generating the required vacant area by performing the required arrangement alteration according to the designation to show whether the continuous area is necessary or unnecessary for only the control table with the designation that the address needs not be preserved. For this purpose, the computer is constituted so as to execute the processing of the rearrangement control mechanism 1 prior to other processing while other business processing is continued. Accordingly, linkage about the control table group before the rearrangement is perfectly preserved after the rearrangement by definition by the attribute list. Thus, the control table group is rearranged during the operation of the business without stopping system.
