The loose plate or mat for walking on is to be laid on the ground and is provided with a surface pattern on or in the whole bottom surface. Perpendicular to the main plain of the plate or mat, perforations are provided being spread over the whole surface. These holes open in the bottom of the plate recesses parts of the surface pattern. The surface pattern can be longitudinal parallel triangular or circular grooves, and perforations can be round or slots which widen towards the bottom. The top surface can have longitudinal grooves crossed by transverse grooves on the bottom cutting each other at their intersection.
