PURPOSE:To reduce hardware by executing expansion processing in a stage in which a luminance signal and a chrominance signal are under a state before a luminance and chrominance time division multiplexed signal is converted into primary color signals. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal expansion circuit 32 expands the luminance signal included in the luminance and chrominance time division multiplexed signal, for example, in an expansion ratio 12/11 corresponding to a compression ratio 11/12 of a video signal. A chrominance signal expansion circuit 33 expands the chrominance signal included in the luminance and chrominance time division multiplexed signal in an expansion ratio 48/11 as the product of the expansion ratio 12/11 corresponding to the compression ratio 11/12 of the video signal and an expansion ratio 4 corresponding to a compression ratio 1/4 of the chrominance signal. Further, the expanded luminance signal and chrominance signal are supplied to an inverse matrix circuit 34 respectively, and the inverse matrix circuit 34 reproduces primary color signals R, G, and B from the time expanded luminance signal and chrominance signal. Namely, the expansion processing is completed before the luminance and chrominance time division multiplexed signal is converted into the primary color signals R, G, and B. |
