PURPOSE:To enhance contact capability with a plate, to lengthen the life of a battery, and to increase discharge performance by bonding fibers of a glass fiber sheet by gelling silicic acid sol or alumina sol. CONSTITUTION:Fibers of a glass fiber sheet are bonded each other by gelling silicic acid sol or alumina sol. The amount of the silicic acid sol or alumina sol is preferable to limit to 5-6wt.% based on the total weight of the glass fibers without exceeding 10wt.%. Alkali silicate-containing glass short fiber having a mean fiber diameter of about 0.5-5mum, a mixture of this fiber with glass fibers having a diameter of more than about 5mum or glass long fibers, or a mixture of this fibers with a small amount of glass particles is used. The contact capability with a plate is enhanced, the life of a battery is lengthened, and discharge performance is increased. |
