<p>PURPOSE: To enable to protect ankle joint from lateral and forward bending by rounding the retaining strings bound to the mower end part or the arms on both sides from one arm over the instep around the Achilles tendon at the upper side of the ankle and fixing the strings to the fixing piece on the other arm after crossing the strings each other on the instep. CONSTITUTION: An U-shaped retaining yoke 1 of the ankle joint splint is composed of inner and outer two yokes 2, 3 and a web 4 connecting them, and a retaining strip 6 is rigidly connected to a lower part 5 of an arm 2 through a rivet 7. The retaining strip 6 starts at one end fixed with the rivet 7, extends to the front upper part of the foot 14 instep crossing with the arm 3 on the instep, and is retained lapping on a fastener piece 8 there. Then the strips round the Achilles tendon behind ankles 16, 17, is passed through a ring 10 via a crossing point 19 on the instep, turned upside down and pressed on the underside of the retaining strip 6 for retention. Accordingly, since the U-shaped outer arm runs along the ligament through the front of the ankle side face, the ankle joint can be retained not only from simple lateral torsion but also from slip bending to the forward and lateral directions.</p> |
