The installation comprises individual movable supports for products which are to undergo a series of operations at work stations which are at a distance from one another. According to the invention, these individual supports for the products 3 are self-propelled carriages 2, with an electric drive motor 40, provided to move along a track 1 provided with rails 25, 26 for supporting and guiding the carriages 2, and also including electrical conductors 28, 29 for powering the motors 40 of these carriages 2.
