PURPOSE: To control an optimum direction of a scanning line and an origin point automatically for a linear array ultrasonic Doppler scanning system, by providing a means to specify one of selected critical angles as the scanning line when there is no ideal scanning line between a left and right critical angles. CONSTITUTION: During a period of a step 104, it is determined whether positions X, Y selected against a sample volume P are in the field of view of a linear array 10 or not. If an array operating angle can be changed to bring a point P' into the field of view during a period of a step 106, the array operating angle is changed under control of a control processor 20 during a period of a step 108. But if P' can not be brought into the field of view, an action goes to a step 110, the point P' is transferred automatically to a point in the capable field of view nearest to this. And the array 10 can be placed once more against a patient so that the point P' comes in the field of view. Therefore, an optimum Doppler scanning angle can be determined rapidly. |
