LUBRICATION-TREATED IRON PART AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To give a lubricating capability without using a lubricant and reduce the wear of a specific iron part by plating the iron part with copper and then forming on the plated surface a mixed layer and/or a double layer of molybdenum sulfides and copper sulfides. CONSTITUTION:At least on the necessary sliding surfaces of an iron or steel part 1 of a rotating or sliding machine or engine, nickel, if necessary, is plated in the thickness of several mum and then a plated copper layer 3 of several mum thick is formed thereon. The resulting copper-plated part is dipped in an aq. soln. of (NH4)MoS4 to form a mixed layer and/or a double layer of molybdenum sulfides(MoSx) 5 and copper sulfides(CuS) 4 on the plated copper layer 3.
