摘要 |
PURPOSE:To form an alumina-based ceramic material having superior thermal shock resistance, toughness and strength at high temp. as compared with the conventional material by sintering a mixture of alumina with silica and silicon carbide whiskers by hot pressing. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of 35-70wt.% Alumina having 0.1-10mum average particle size with 10-25wt.% silica having 0.1-10mum average particle size and 5-40wt.% silicon carbide whiskers having <=10mum diameter and 3-200 aspect ratio is sintered by hot pressing to form an alumina-mullite-silicon carbide composite sintered body. The mullite in the sintered body is synthesized from alumina and silica as starting materials during sintering. Commercially available mullite powder may be used. |
