HOLLOW CERAMIC MICROSPHERE PRODUCED BY SOL-GEL PROCESS AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PURPOSE: To form a uniform ceramic hollow microbubble by adding a mixture of a sol precursor with a volatile liquid blowing agent into a hollow body forming promoting medium under a specific temp. and pressure and firing the produced green hollow microbubble. CONSTITUTION: The mixture composed of the sol precursor and the volatile liquid blowing agent into the hollow bubble forming promoting medium at a temp. and pressure sufficient to form the green microbubble. Next, the green hollow microbubble is fired in the presence of a flocculant to form the ceramic hollow microbubble composed of at least one kind of an oxide component and a non-oxide component. The ceramic hollow microbubble has a ceramic wall and one central vacancy, 1-300 μm diameter and a wall thickness <=10% of the diameter of the hollow microbubble.
