PURPOSE:To realize high focusing accuracy and speedy focusing operation by controlling a photographic lens driving speed according to subject brightness information. CONSTITUTION:A lens driving speed is controlled in consideration of subject brightness. A driving means increases the driving speed when a subject brightness detecting means detects the subject brightness being on the high brightness side and decreases the driving speed when the detecting means detects the subject brightness being on the low brightness side. A focusing detecting device, therefore, generates an H-level output as an outside-specific-focusing-range signal at the output terminal (b) of a comparing circuit 20 when a photographic lens L is within a specific focusing range nearby a focusing position and generates an L-level output when the lens is outside the specific focusing range. Consequently, the high focusing accuracy and speedy focusing operation are realized. |
