The steel making scrap preheating gas scrubbing system is part of a system in which hot dirty gas from an electric furnace (1) is used to preheat the scrap metal as means of saving energy. Having preheated the scrap, the foul gas containing paint or oily soot is led through a gas scrubbing tower (19) to a wet type electrostatic precipitator (20) which removes impurities before discharge to atmosphere. Waste scrubbing water (23A) and waste precipitation water (30A) are sprayed into the furnace flue gas (2) to burn its foul substances.
