An adjustable radial diffuser for a compressor with fixed pilot blades and movable main blades has main blades which are movable in translational motion and which are guided approximately parallel to the profile-cord direction via rail/slot guides. The rails and slots have longitudinal grooves, through which air flows and which prevent the sliding faces from being soiled. The design according to the invention allows an exact adjustment of the closely arranged diffuser faces and prevents disadvantageous leakage streams from the pressure side to the suction side of the individual diffuser blades.
