A magazine for holding bar-shaped workpieces, which consists of two guide plates arranged in parallel at a suitable distance from one another. A cutout dividing pattern is formed by screen openings in the guide plates, the clear width of which openings is variable in each case by relative displacement of a pair of screen plates located one above the other. The total number of pairs of screen plates of a guide plate can be driven centrally by a connecting link device. In this way, the magazine can be adapted over a broad range to different diameters of tool blanks.
