Coin insertion and return arrangement for deposit coins

Trolleys available in supermarkets for goods transport or on stations for suitcases are usually left standing at the unloading point by the customers or travellers and no longer returned to the collecting station. The continual recovery of these trolleys necessitates additional labour. Such trolleys are therefore often lined up interlocked with one another at the collecting station and released only in return for the insertion of a deposit coin. A disadvantage of this is that customers or travellers cannot do their shopping or transport their luggage if they do not have a suitable coin to hand. So that trolleys can initially be used even without a deposit coin and, nevertheless, in order to guarantee their return by the customers or travellers, there are provided on the trolleys coin insertion and return arrangements for deposit coins which have a releasable holding device 4 for the deposit coin 3 in a coin chamber 2. This holding device 4 is an electromagnet 15 which is provided with a longitudinally displaceable armature 17 and the excitation of which takes place by means of an electrical switching member 23 in the form of an infrared receiver device by an external infrared transmitter 25 which is arranged at the collecting station. The deposit coin 3 subsequently inserted at a later time is returned only when the trolley enters the local transmission range.
