In known devices, deep-bed filters are used to separate off the particles carried along in the air stream. These filters have a continuously rising loss of pressure, as result of which the filters have to be changed at regular time intervals. In the new device, an electric filter (9) is provided which contains a spray electrode (10) and an essentially cylindrical, rotatably mounted precipitation electrode (11) which is provided with a rotary drive and to which means (40) for producing a flow of a cleaning fluid (15) flowing along its inner face are assigned.
